Buddy Davis quietly began building custom boats more than 25 years ago, and even mild enthusiasts instantly recognize each hull's distinctive Carolina flare and pure lines. You'll soon see more of these thoroughbreds as Buddy Davis and his team turn up the production volume. All new tooling let Buddy Davis increase production while maintaining, or improving, quality.

The 45 Express shown here is one of five new Buddy Davis designs for the 2001 model year. Carrying similar lines as the 50 Express, the 45 offers an open helm deck as well as a raised deck area with two helm seats, a Buddy Davis custom teak helm bubble with single-lever controls, wraparound seating abaft and a wet bar. Two steps down is a cockpit laid out to raise fish. It includes a lighted, circular bait well, an insulated under-deck fishbox, a walk-through tuna door and teak covering boards.

Engine options include 700 hp DDC/MTU Series 60 12-liter diesels, 800hp Caterpillar 3406E diesels and 825 hp DDC/MTU Series 60 14-liter diesels. Belowdecks, owners can choose one or two staterooms. Several choices of finish materials and décor are available.
